JADE Team at the European Business Summit 2017

On the 22nd and 23rd of May, JADE Team had the great opportunity to attend the European Business Summit (EBS) 2017, one of the most important and prestigious events in Brussels, bringing together more than 150 speakers and 2.200 participants so business and politics can discuss and debate on the issues faced at European level. We had the chance to take part in the event thanks to the support of Arnaud Thysen, general manager of the EBS and took this opportunity to welcome both Vice-Presidents of our French confederation, CNJE.
On the first day, we attended a session hosted by CSR Europe, one of our partner and coordinator of the Pact4Youth, on the Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations. Junior Enterprises definitely have a role to play, obviously in the 4th goal on Education for instance!
This session was concluded by Jyrki Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission, in charge of Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness. This was a unique occasion to introduce the concept to him and we did!
We also met Arnaldo Abruzzini, CEO of Eurochambers and member of JADE’s Advisory Board, as he was debating the European economic diplomacy and the role to play at the global level.
The first day concluded with a plenary panel discussion composed of presidents and CEOs of Business Europe, Huawei, McKinsey, and Tata Consultancy on the topic: “A New Narrative for Europe“. Our president Yann Camus asked a question on the role that young people can play in defining the future of Europe and introduced the concept of Junior Enterprises. Our view? Indeed that we need to co-create the future! #TogetherWeGrow
On the second day, JADE was moderating a “Meet the Experts” session on how to “Attract and Retain Young Talents in Europe“. To summarize, Europe still needs to bridge the gap between university and the job market with the help of organizations like Junior Enterprises and companies need to adapt and to provide a clear purpose and growth opportunities to students that are becoming increasingly value-driven and interested by learning experiences and by having an impact on society.
The event finished on a session defining the new strategy for Europe to thrive in a new world, with the presence of national Ministers, Luis de Guindos from Spain and Wolfang Schäuble from Germany.
This event was an amazing opportunity for JADE Team to represent the Junior Enterprise network and to network and create connections with high-level policy makers and CEOs, we are definitely looking forward to the next edition!
